Yeah, it's sickening. It's also the reason we are here.

It's not that hard. And good advice can be found for free.
We will give as much of it here as time will allow.

Who am I? Why Does The Business Club Exist?

My name is Rex Edhlund. I am currently the Art Director PLUS for the San Diego Metropolitan Magazine (Business News in San Diego) and the North Park News (Community Newspaper for North Park, Normal Heights, Kensington and South Park).

I say PLUS because, besides designing 40 to 80 ads a month, laying out the pages of the magazine and newspaper, I also handle the production of all of our printing, marketing materials, displays, awards presentation materials and direct our online stategy. It seems like a lot, but the reason I can handle so much AND have time to work on other design, marketing, and identity strategies is because I LOVE IT!

Over the course of my career as a graphic designer and marketing specialist, I have literally worked with over a thousand new businesses, existing businesses, and projects that needed help in communicating their message. I have done it so many times and have worked with so many suppliers that I know exactly where to go to get things done right, quick, and for the best price.

There's a lot of value in that.
So, I might as well provide it as a service.

There are a lot of details. Some things you absolutely need, some things can be done later, or upgraded later.

You need a pro email address
(non yahoo / hotmail / cable co). You have to have a logo that is presentable. You need business cards. You may use signage. You might want car signage

You'll need a domain name. One that makes sense to both your customers AND the search engines. Someone needs to provide web hosting, which means you'll need a website.

You may exhibit at tradeshows or community events. You need to get your site listed with Google. You may want to set an Adwords budget. You probably want to get listed on GoogleMaps. You may want an email marketing setup. And more and on and on.

Yes, there is a lot. You could spend hundreds of hours trying to figure it all out. I did. (Well, I did thousands of hours). But none of these are an issue if you know where to go. I can help make it as simple as grocery shopping. You know what you want, you find out where to go, you get it and move on to what you REALLY want to do. Run YOUR business.

This website and service isn't for the person that WANTS a bunch of smoke blown up their skirt about becoming the next multi-level millionaire. That doesn't really exist. This is the place for people that have a passion they want to pursue. For people that want to become an entrepreneur. Those are the people I want to work with.

Only a couple a month though. But the people who want to (or need to for financial reasons) do it themselves, you can. You'll be able to tag along.

It's not ALL going to be free though. I love start-up business, but I'm not an idiot. If I end up designing your logo or business cards, I will charge for my time, but I think you'll be surprised, I'm a pretty good deal. That's the beauty of helping so many new small businesses. There will be plenty of work.
